PHASE 9 RECRUITMENT ACTION - NEW ENGLAND TAFE

31 January 2005

The Director General of DET agreed that no further recruitment action will be taken for the advertised positions (TG No. 1 25 January 2005).

The PSA made it clear at a meeting with Institute HR that filling these positions on a temporary basis should be based on EEO Principles and "Expressions of Interest" called for.

The PSA will not tolerate displaced teachers, or potentially displaced teachers, being placed into graded clerks' positions.

Late Friday afternoon (28/1/05) members who had received offer of redundancy letters with exit dates reported to the PSA that they are being contacted by the Institute's HR Unit asking them to extend their "exit date". As members have already extended this date once before at the Institute's begging, the PSA's recommendation is to reject this gratuitous request.

The PSA considers this restructure to be another Institute management monumental 'stuff-up'.

Internal Audit Bureau To Investigate Recruitment Procedures

The PSA advises members that this investigation will be conducted by the external organisation, the Internal Audit Bureau which operates under its own legislation (Internal Audit Bureau Act 1992 No. 20).

The Bureau comes under the umbrella of the NSW Treasurer's portfolio.
