Aboriginal Education Assistants -- Name Change

The AEA Working Group after some discussion has expressed a desire to have the name change from "Aboriginal Education Assistants" to "Aboriginal Education Officers".

The Department of Education and Training have agreed in principle to the name change.

At a meeting with the Deputy Director General it was discussed that the change is a matter of standing and recognition in the community for the good work done by AEAs.

The PSA is waiting on correspondence from the Department acknowledging the agreement.

Once received the change merely requires an Award variation which the PSA lodges with the NSW Industrial Relations Commission. The only additional implication may be for pay slips, the Department has promised to include this information in their correspondence.
