Permanency for ‘Schools as Community Centres’ Facilitators

Executive, 28 April 2008

Decision

Report adopted

Report

The PSA has been approached by members in DET who work as Facilitators, in a programme which works with underprivileged families in disadvantaged communities.

The programme is designed to work with children from birth until 8 years old and their families in order ensure the best education prospects possible. This programme has existed since 1995.

Due to the unusual funding of this programme which is almost entirely from DOCS the facilitators positions are not permanent. Our members, some of whom have been in the role since 1995, are eager to be made permanent.

The PSA has entered into preliminary negotiations with the DET in order to achieve permanency for these members.
