Granville TAFE rally yesterday05 August 2003There was a very good turn-out at the Granville TAFE rally yesterday, with an estimated 500 staff, students, unionists and other supporters. The rally coincided with the opening of TAFE Week by Acting Premier and Minister for education Andrew Refshauge. The protest focused on the large increases in TAFE fees and the cuts in the TAFE budget. The Minister and the DET & TAFE management are getting the message - this issue is not going to go away. Cuts to education are cuts to education, irrespective of whether they are staff cuts, course cuts, or fees rises that price people out of training opportunities.
