Teachers lodge dispute over TAFE/DET

The NSW Teachers Federation (NSWTF) yesterday lodged a dispute with the Industrial Relations Commmission over the restructure

The matter was heard as a compulsory conference before her Honour Justice Schmidt at noon Tuesday 15th.The PSA was listed as an interested party.

The Federation's submission was that the Department has failed to adhere to teachers' conditions award which provides for consultation on Restructuring. They have received no detail on the proposal.

They sought to have the IRC supervise the consultation of the Lifelong Learning proposal.

DET said they have briefed both unions and have offered meetings to the NSWTF. And as yet the proposal has not been finalised.

The PSA reserved its position as to whether it join the dispute or whether the need for a separate dispute may arise.

That will be determined by the outcomes of our current scheduled consultation regarding this proposal.

Her honour recommended the department and NSWTF meet quickly and report back on the 25th July.
